Proven Formula For Discovering REAL Information?

Have you ever bought an information product and felt like you knew just as much before you bought it?

Today I'm going to expose my formula for finding the REAL value of all those eBooks we all buy.

First let me start out by saying, if you're out there purchasing information to further your personal knowledge on ANY subject you are to be commended.

There is no industry in the world where the relentless pursuit of self improvement is stronger than in the home business arena.

In high school did you pay to learn what your teachers know?

Did you really even care at the end of the day?

Most of the time not really, but of course there may have been a few subjects you had an affinity for.

It's different online and that's why I love it. We each pay our way to what we know, and we're more than happy to continue to pay for information that can help us.

It's the pursuit of self improvement in it's truest form if you asked me.

Just last night I picked up 3 new information products to brush up on a few topics. The funny thing is, I already knew a great deal about these topics before I purchased.

A secret I learned about marketing is this.

Repetition is key, and perspective matters.

I'm not shy, I'll tell you. I'll buy 7 different eBooks or information products on the same exact topic - be it traffic generation, network marketing, or anything else - in any given week.

Why?

I love it.

I find great value in the RIGHT perspective.

Hearing the same message from a different perspective can sometimes make that light bulb go off when it otherwise wouldn't have.

But to the point of today's email . . .

Being the creator of a few information products myself I give you this advice.

Anytime you buy an information product and the author doesn't give you their personal results doing whatever they teach you to do, the information ain't worth much and to be honest you probably could have found the exact same information for free.

What you SHOULD and happily pay for is REAL results. Not basic theory followed up with soft recommendations on what the author uses without numbers or results to back up why.

Buying information that doesn't at least prove its own value within itself isn't worth a dime.

On the other hand, any information you get your hands on that has you pulling out a piece of paper and writing notes because the author clearly shows you how and why he or she does what he or she does and how it works is worth it's weight in gold.

I'll happily pay 1000 times for REAL results based information, but to be honest I get a little upset when I get information that is basically fluff in order to sell me something.

It's greedy and lazy

I'm telling you this from the perspective of someone who knows.

If ant to learn the REAL secret to internet network marketing success? Want to SEE the results that doing the right things brings so that you can feel more than confident that not only your money was well spent, but that your results will look similar? What Is The Best VOIP Solution

A lot has been said and written about the virtues of the mountains of possible VOIP solutions and how VOIP technology is one of the best inventions since sliced bread and canned beer. All the advertisements and marketing hype would have you believe that all VOIP solutions are good ones but none of them talk about what is right for you, and when a VOIP solution from ANY VOIP service provider may not make sense. VOIP is not a "one size fits all" solution.

First of all, please realize that VOIP is not a cure-all for anything. It does not get whites whiter or colors brighter. It is a technology that allows you to make and receive phone calls using your high-speed Internet connection. That's it. Granted, it is cheaper than the phone company in most (but not all) cases, but when is it not a good idea?

One of the things that VOIP providers do not emphasize (and should) is that the quality of the VOIP conversation on the phone is highly dependent on the quality of your high-speed Internet connection. For home VOIP, that is usually DSL or cable Internet, and if your connection is not stable, reliable, and good without hiccups, your VOIP experience from any VOIP provider on the planet is not going to be good. The VOIP provider does not include the high-speed Internet connection with their service, but rather they assume you already have it and it is stable and reliable and truly high-speed.

This is the first mistake. Not all residential Internet service falls into the category of being able to be termed stable and reliable without hiccups. In fact, especially with DSL, if you are located a long ways (more than 15,000 feet) from the DSL distribution center, chances are good that your DSL speed is not a whole lot better than dial-up speeds, and you are not going to have a pleasant experience if you venture into the VOIP world.

If the only high-speed Internet connection available to you is satellite, you are also not going to be happy with your VOIP solution. Satellite Internet service was not designed for that, and especially with the high latency times that are inherent with a satellite Internet connection, satellite is not going to work well for you with VOIP.

Business VOIP is very much the same, since the same core technology is used. A business that wants to use a VOIP solution with their DSL circuit, even a "business class DSL" circuit, is asking for problems. One of the problems is that the VOIP solution provider, when you call to complain, is going to be able to fix the problem, because DSL was just not designed for this purpose and is inadequate for all but the most modest VOIP requirements.

For business VOIP, a fractional or full T1 line is required for your high-speed Internet access. A T1 provides guaranteed bandwidth and guaranteed availability of that bandwidth, which interestingly enough, is also a requirement for VOIP. Do you see the connection between those requirements? You say a T1 line is too expensive? That is a whole topic unto itself, but from a Tier 1 carrier that can guarantee the service, a T1 that can handle VOIP in most parts of the country can be had for under $400 per month, and in more than 90% of the country, for under $550 per month.

But do you really NEED a VOIP solution, or are you really implementing technology for the sake of technology? Some say, even for home or business, that one automatically saves money. Let me tell you that there is nothing automatic about it, and I recommend that you create a small spreadsheet and compute the real costs. Yes, VOIP usually includes unlimited long distance, but how much long distance do you use, really? Would you really use that feature, or is it only for bragging rights? Yes, a good VOIP solution usually includes features like voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, and others, but would you USE those features?

Make no mistake about it, a good VOIP solution can save you a ton of money, but it will require that you understand your own calling habits and how you will use the service. It also requires a solid high-speed Internet connection so that people you call won't think you are phoning them from the bottom of your bathtub. You need to evaluate the costs and then make a financially smart decision based on your individual and unique needs, whether you are seeking a VOIP solution for home or for business.

Options Education : Opinion versus Fact!

The most basic aspect of trading is learning to differentiate between what is FACTUAL and what is OPINION. If you stay interested in the financial markets long enough you will discover that there are a lot of sharks out there who have become expert at making that task very difficult.

Several subscribers of this newsletter have contacted me over the last few weeks asking for my opinion of certain promoters who also advocate Options Trading Strategies. I make it a point to not comment on other services. However, without mentioning any names I feel that it is necessary to inform you of some of the most common and deceptive practices used by some promoters.

One of the great appeals to Options trading is that there are so many possibilities and trading strategies that can be used to manage risk. However, most services when promoting options like to demonstrate the tremendous REWARDS that are achievable. Although tremendous gain is possible, options are considered speculative instruments and potentially very risky in untrained hands. Since an Option gives the owner the right to buy or sell something for a specific period of time the OPTION is considered to be a deteriorating asset. Since all options have an expiration date, if all things are considered equal, the closer you get to that expiration date the less that the option will be worth.

There is an abundance of literature available on OPTIONS written primarily for locating and marketing to the GREEDY INVESTOR. One promoter who charges over $3,500 for his seminars on Options Education touts that investors in his seminars earn returns in excess of several thousand percent per year! He provides and documents several real time examples and shows how some traders made a 12,000% annualized return. (Just in case you thought that was a typo that is twelve thousand percent!)

My statistics teacher in college used to say that "The figures don't lie, but liars figure." Listen Up....because if you don't learn how to read the fine print that these deceitful promoters espouse you too will make those types of returns but probably won't be able to pay your rent!

Most traders enter into the financial markets seeking that ONE home run trade that will permit them to check out of the rat race. Knowing this FACT deceitful promoters arm themselves with examples that will lead you right into their arms. Here is a common example of their con in action:

Let's say that you purchased an OPTION at $1 per share. On that very same day the market moved in your direction and you were capable of selling that option at $1.50 per share. Since Option contracts are all standardized sizes of 100 shares your net profit before commissions would be $50. You also would have established a profit of 50%. This is a great return considering that most money managers earn 15% a year!

To determine your Return on Investment you only need to divide your net profit by your initial investment. In this instance you had a 50 cent profit per share on an initial investment of $1 per share.

Now the promoters bait the hook....... Even though your profit was $50, your return on investment was 50%. This is indeed factual. Think of how EASY it was to earn that return, after all you did it in only one day! So since there are 365 days in a year, to calculate an annualized return we would multiply 50% times 365. The result is a staggering return of 18,250%. (Now if your stomach is turning by this type of deceit, GOOD!)

I offer you the MATH below:

Buy Price 1

Sell Price 1.5

Profit $0.5000

Gross Profit $50.00

% Return 50%

# of Days 1

# of periods in a year (365 days) 365

Initial $ Investment $100.00

Net Profit $50.00

Annualized Return 18,250%

Now what infuriates me about these promoters is how successful they are at providing the public with this type of "financial snake oil!" One promoter in particular has actually written a best-selling book on options that is filled with these types of misleading and deceitful computations. Hard to believe but an 18,250% return will barely pay for the price of the book!

Although this is a technical point. many of you have probably realized that the above example is further complicated by the fact that the financial markets are not open 365 days a year. If you take weekends and holidays into account you literally only have 252 days to play with. So the more mathematically oriented con men would offer you the following calculation:

Buy 1

Sell 1.5

Profit $0.5000

Gross Profit $50.00

% Return 50%

# of Days 1

# of periods in a year (252 days) 252

Net Profit $50.00

Annualized Return 12,600%

Hey 12,600% annualized return...sure beats those low yielding MUTUAL FUNDS!

Now, I wish I was making this stuff up, but my mailbox is filled everyday with variations of these examples. No mention is ever made of the fact that your profit BEFORE commissions was $50 bucks which is not bad and might pay for DINNER out on the town.

This may seem extremely elementary and basic to many of you. However, I have seen many extremely successful individuals taken in by this type of deceit. I think you'll agree that although the numbers are accurate they are completely unrealistic and the INTENTIONS of the promoters are what is in question. Nonetheless, you'd be surprised how many $3,500 seminars the above example will SELL.

The financial markets only require one thing of you if you are to be successful and that is that you manage your risk on each and every trade. THERE IS NO OTHER SECRET. In my own trading I must admit that it took me years to learn how to TAKE a LOSS. Once I learned how to lose and accept it as part of doing business my trading dramatically improved. Although I consider this to be among the most profound truths that I have learned regarding trading I readily recognize that it is nowhere near as marketable as promoting 18,250% returns. Or was that 12,600%? After all 50 bucks IS 50 bucks!

Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between FACT and OPINION. In those instances I heed the words of the great Yogi Berra, "You can observe a lot by just looking." Nuff said.

Next article I'll get back to LOW RISK trading ideas in these high risk markets.

Study away.....and remember, let's be careful out there!

Dowjonesfully,

Could You Become a US Citizen?

Okay, I realize that most of you reading this article already are citizens, but what if you werent? My mother was born in Scotland and had to become a citizen to stay and work in New Jersey, where we lived. But, back in the sixties, the test was pretty intense. I remember spending hours helping her memorize the presidents, amendments to the constitution, and US history. The test has evolved over the years and expect that everyone who was born in the US should be capable of passing it. But why am I not so sure? Is it because when Jay Leno does his Jaywalking segment filmed outside his studio and asks questions like, Who was the first President, I cringe? Its because of the answers like, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, or Abraham Lincoln. Yipes!

Fine, maybe he picked some slow people that day. But how would you do answering sample questions from the INS Citizenship test? Heres you chance to prove me right or wrong on how I think the average American would fare. Take your time, good luck and please dont cheat by looking at the answers below. Ive picked just 20 of a possible 100, at random.

  1. How many stripes are on the US flag and what do they mean?
  2. Who was the first President of the United States?
  3. Who is the current Vice-President of the US?
  4. Who elects the President of the US?
  5. For how long do we elect the President?
  6. Who elects the Congress?
  7. What is the supreme law of the US?
  8. What is the Bill of Rights?
  9. Who said, Give me liberty or give me death?
  10. Name any 6 of the original 13 states.
  11. Who was the main writer of the Declaration of Independence?
  12. Who was president during the Civil War?
  13. Who selects the Supreme Court Justices?
  14. What is the national anthem of the US called and who wrote it?
  15. What type of government does the US have?
  16. What month do we vote for the President?
  17. What month is the President inaugurated?
  18. How many times may a President serve?
  19. How many states are there as of 2007?
  20. Name any benefit of US citizenship?

How did you do? Did you have to peek at the answers? Shame on you! But, in all fairness, I doubt if many would get all of these right. So here are the answers and Ill discuss a few at the bottom.

  1. There are 13 stripes, each representing an original state.
  2. George Washington was the first President.
  3. Richard B. Cheney is the current Vice-President in 2007.
  4. The electoral college actually elects the President.
  5. The President serves for 4 years in a term.
  6. Congress is elected directly by the people.
  7. The Constitution is the supreme law of the US.
  8. The first 13 amendments to the Constitution are called the Bill of Rights.
  9. Patrick Henry said, Give me liberty of give me death.
  10. The original states are: Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Maryland.
  11. Thomas Jefferson was the main writer of the Declaration of Independence.
  12. Abraham Lincoln was President during the Civil War.
  13. The President of the US selects Supreme Court Justices.
  14. The US national anthem is the Star-Spangled Banner by Frances Scott Key.
  15. The United States operates under a Democracy.
  16. We vote for the President in November.
  17. The President takes the oath of office in January.
  18. The President may only serve 2, 4-year terms of office.
  19. Currently, in 2007, we have 50 states, including the District of Columbia.
  20. A Benefit of citizenship? This is for you to decide.

The last question could be answered by using the amendments of the Bill of Rights. Here are just a few, beginning with the very first one: You have the right of freedom of speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and requesting change of government. You have the right to bear arms (the right to have weapons or own a gun, though subject to certain regulations). A person may not be tried twice for the same crime and does not have to testify against him/herself. You have the right to trial by jury in most cases. In addition, here are some others: You are allowed to vote and elect your representatives, you are protected by the US military and local police, you are subject to everything written into the Constitution and therefore can live with more freedom than in almost any other country.

So, once again, how did you do? The INS is considering going to multiple choices in 2008, but with some tougher questions. Such as, name your two state Senators, what is our economic system called, and what was the primary purpose of the Declaration of Independence? But, aside from those, you should have known every one of the above 20 questions. Most children are taught the answers by high school. If you had trouble with a few, then youre probably average. More than 10, then you should hit the books. More than 15? How long have you lived here? If you got them all wrong? De donde eres, por favor?

Best Spyware Removers

Finding the best spyware removers to detect and remove spyware and adware from your computer is much easier if you consider a few things before you make your purchase. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a spyware protection program.

The best spyware removers should offer you complete protection against spyware, adware, keyloggers, Remote Access Trojans (RATs), and browser hijackers. These are the main spyware infections that expose your confidential information and diminish your PC's performance.

An important consideration for any spyware protection program is automatic updates for your software. There are new spyware programs invented on a regular basis just like viruses and automatic updates cover you against the latest spyware threats.

Another important consideration to look for should be technical support from the manufacturer. A spyware protection program doesn't do you any good if you have a technical issue that you can't solve. Often, just a minor piece of technical advice will solve most software problems and it's important that your software run right. You also may need someone to answer questions that come up.

Customer service is another feature you may consider looking for. It shows the manufacturer is a trusted source who cares about their reputation and will probably be around awhile.

Spyware is quickly becoming a major threat to Internet security. It is reported that 9 out of 10 computers are currently infected with spyware, adware or both. Most people don't even realize it's there because spyware and adware is programmed to run silently. Microsoft estimates that spyware is responsible for 50% of all PC crashes.

If you don't remove spyware from your computer it will eventually not work at all or your computer files will become infected by spyware programs. Your personal information, passwords and credit card numbers could end up stolen from you without you even knowing it.

Once you remove spyware and adware programs from your computer you'll find it will run faster and your personal information will be much safer. Your security and peace of mind is worth spending a little time to find the best spyware removers possible.

Hosted Telephony Services

To get our heads around the state of play in the realm of hosted telephony services, we talked to industry expert Paul Desbois.

Q. Hi Paul, I'd like you to imagine I am a novice in this marketplace. I could be running a call centre for instance, but want to streamline my operation and learn a little about the how's and why's of Hosted services. What can you tell me.

Paul: Let's go into some background first, and go from there.

There are two primary technology environments inside any business that have to communicate: one is telephony and the other is the IT environment. For telephony we're looking at telephones, modems, things that connect to the network but all in all people think of this as voice.

On the IT side you're talking about database applications specific to running a business. People tend to think of that as data. Today, using ISDN and VoIP the two are being combined under the one umbrella. However, people still perceive them as different things - telecoms for voice and computers for data.

Today, every business goes out and buys a telephone system and in making that decision about what telephone system to purchase they have to look at their voice applications and what they want to do with their inbound and outbound voice calls. There are questions in people's minds today about what is the future of voice technology going to look like; historically it's been something called TDM* and the future looks like something called VoIP. There is the question of which of these technologies to go for, what are the kind of applications that you're going to be able to run on those technologies and what services as a business are going to needed in the future.

And then there is the issue of staying ahead of the competition.

There can be significant costs in setting up a business to be able to compete in a given environment, so we are looking at capital expenditure to buy in technologies, both IT technologies and Telecom technologies necessary to be able to compete.

As a hosting company we move with the times, take on the burden of capital expenditure so our customers can just get on with what they do best.

Q. Explain the value of VoIP to me..

Paul: It seems that many people are lured by the perception that VoIP is free, however unless you use a client like Skype it is just another method of voice transmission.

VoIP is still an immature technology. It was originally designed for video conferencing. Video conferencing required a protocol to allow people to actually tie up video data with voice data and synchronise the two.

However with traditional telephony you have dedicated bandwidth, you have copper or an ISDN line between the connected points. With VoIP you have to deal with something called contention ratios, which is where the amount of data that you're sending has to compete for bandwidth with other data. This can give you latency issues.

Latency is the lag in the time it takes for the data to get from point A to point B. Over a standard telephone the human ear can handle about 126 Milliseconds of latency before the conversation starts to sound really affected Over standard telephone you have around about 40 Milliseconds of latency, which is virtually real time as far as the human ear is concerned.

The problem with VoIP, is that when you take voice and turn it into data to travel down the network, you have to go through a codec - you have to basically convert it from analogue, which is what you hear in the real world, to digital. Every time you do that there is a certain amount of processing power required which takes about 30 Milliseconds. So, if you have more than 2 or 3 codex in the network between caller A and caller B, you will have latency beyond that of which people will be able to accept it as a valid service. You can also get a certain amount of data that just disappears and so the voice can break-up.

Q: So how does this all relate to hosted services?

Paul: Hosting actually sits and straddles both technologies, so a true hosting company should be able to provide VoIP and TDM options, which gives the customer the choice of which type of service to go for.

Another benefit of being with a hosted company is that they would have installed systems within co-location facilities that are built specifically for housing data centres, so they are conditioned units to control the ambient temperature. They have high speed, high capacity data network switches that can carry VoIP traffic, and the whole environment is geared to high performance and high availability. So, from a client's point of view a hosted service has already dealt with all of the technical issues with regards to what to buy, how to set it up and where to install it.

Q: Typically what sort of telephony services can you get on a hosted basis?

Paul: Telephony applications are all based on four fundamental building blocks.

  1. Switching and routing which some people think of as ACD. The ability to route calls intelligently - switching and routing is a primary function and it's what telecoms is all about.
  2. Messaging, the ability to play people messages, deliver messages or take messages. Messaging includes things like voicemail, fax, email, SNS.
  3. IVR (Interactive Voice Response). Everyone knows it as "press 1 for sales, press 2 for accounts" it's the ability for someone to go through a menu driven system, to choose options and allow them to orientate themselves without the assistance of a live person. Historically that's been done using D2F (press 1 press 2) but this is changing to speech recognition..
  4. Conferencing, which gives you the ability for more than one person to talk to each other at the same time.
So, with those four building blocks we can then think of any telephony application, any communication application imaginable and we can build it. Typically at the moment the major areas of interest are inbound ACD - the ability to handle inbound caller traffic and distribute it to the right individuals/departments and to report on that and to understand the effect on the business of your inbound traffic.

There's the outbound side which is the ability for you to connect to the outside world and dialler technologies like predictive dialling.

Q: What kinds of companies are going for Hosted services?

Paul: Most companies have room for hosted services in their setups:

You have the new company with the opportunity to install completely new technology. For them there is a serious decision as to whether they go for the capital expenditure route of buying physical systems to install in the new office, or whether they go for a hosted model where they avoid those.

You have the company with some old systems, some historical investment but a perception that they need to move upward and gain access to new applications and services, or that they need to enhance their existing platforms but don't again want to go through the capital expenditure of upgrading or replacing their legacy systems and again, they are able to go to a hosted supplier that has already made that investment, that is moving with the latest technologies and can make these services available on a Pay As You Go basis that the business can now run as an operating expenditure.

I could go on, but you can see that it can be a sound technological and financial decision to go hosted.

Q: So people can put off making technological choices that might not have an answer right now?

Paul: Yes. With IVR systems, telephone systems, computer systems, CRM environments etc, a lot of work can go into understanding the technology. There are normally a number of different costs attached to that; there are the upfront costs of investment in consultancy, some upfront costs in buying systems. Then there's the actual cost of ownership - training, maintenance etc. One of the most difficult things is actually what hardware technology to buy because it has to grow with you and allow you to fulfil the requirements of that technology. Hosting provides you with an existing environment that has already been designed very effectively, so you avoid having to make a decision today that you can put off till tomorrow because with hosting you can go with existing platforms in technology - but importantly you can choose the things that you want in the form of a shopping list, and go through a learning curve without having the initial investment of buying the hardware.

Q: Give me a scenario?

Paul: Let's take as an example a virtual call centre.

A hosted service allows calls to be routed to different agents, for customers to feel as if they are in one environment whereas there is no need for the company to operate this way at all.

Billing and statistics also come from one central source, so it ties up all of the loose ends. Our call centre solutions involve all that hosted telephony can offer in one place.

Q: What are peoples fears about going for hosted services?

Paul: It seems complicated at the outset because there are so many possibilities on offer. That's where we are here to help.

Q: Where do people start?

Paul: They would normally trial something like call recording because it's not an intrusive application. It's something that happens in the background and doesn't normally affect any of the existing processes. People can see benefits like access via the web to the recordings, stats as well as the reduced charges for their outbound telephony.

Q: So people can save money?

Paul: As a hosting company we generate lots of traffic and as such we're able to negotiate very considerable discounting. We pass this on to our clients.

Q: Are many people using hosted services right now?

Paul: Virtually everyone is using some form of hosted service already. If you use a mobile phone you're actually using a hosted service, because a lot of intelligence that runs on that phone is actually held at a central office location, so if you're with O2 or Vodafone they have systems that host your voicemail, they have IVR and you're mobile is just an access device. Typically the cost of the technology is supplemented by the contract you are on. So, you may have bought your phone for a few pounds when in fact the retail price of that phone may be hundreds of pounds and you are now paying for that technology over a period of time, based on a contract with the spend value per month which goes to that provider. So everyone is actually using hosting in some fashion or another.

Regarding market share, I estimate that 1% of the UK market would recognise themselves as hosting some sort of the telecoms service today. In North America it is much more. An example is that mail order companies can ship products with a service number attached to it, so if it arrives damaged there is a phone number on there that people can ring which will take you through to someone that can help you - in America 96% have this, in the UK it is more like 20%.

Q: What would you ask your hosting company?

Paul: The first thing to know is where have they co-located their equipment. You need a high capacity/high available environment with a lot of resilient architecture. What that means is that you want a co-location that has got environmental controls, is a manned facility with an engineer on site to deal with problems 24/7.

Thanks Paul.
