Often people say that they love books, but what kind of books do they truly love? If you were to ask someone the question: If You Could Make Love to a Book - What would that book be about? What do you think their response might be? And be sure to tell them before they answer that, No, it cannot be a magazine with mostly pictures in it.

Recently at a bookstore I took an informal survey of book lovers and ask them which type of books that they felt closer to. Each one of them had their own specific favorite authors and specific type of reading. One lady we interviewed simply loved forensic crime books and detective stories. Another lady we met seemed to enjoy romance and historical fiction.

Why did they love these books? They told us it allowed them to escape for a little while from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. They felt they could escape from the family, kids and the traffic or the hectic pace at work and the office politics.

People read books for various reasons and generally it appears that some people like to learn a little bit while they are reading which is why the one lady felt that historical fiction also helped her understand the era and a region of a certain time period.

The younger woman who enjoyed forensic crime and detective books also enjoyed watching CSI on TV and just thought it was wonderful that so many great authors wrote these kinds of fictional works. If you could make love to a book - what type of book might that be? Think on it.
